The Raga deep dive courses are aimed at internalising Raga concepts by learning and improvising different types of compositions in a Raga. In this Raga Deep dive course the attractive Raga Kalavati is chosen for learning.

  

Course Format

12 weeks with One session per week.

  

Objectives

To practise singing the Raga chalan of Kalavati paying attention to vocal nuanced involved

To create and sing the Swar Vistar in Kalavati

To learn and practise singing the Paltas in Kalavati

To learn two Chhota Khayal compositions and a Tarana with Aalap and Taan in Raga Kalavati

To review the Chhota Khayal already learnt in Kalavati (if any) 

To learn a Bhajan based on Kalavati

To develop awareness about similar Ragas

 

 

  

The student needs to have completed HV210 at the academy OR the student needs to have the following skills- Alankar singing in different rhythm patterns.Ability to distiguish and sing Shudh, Komal and Tivra Swaras.Good sense of Laya and Taal. Student has learnt Chhota Khayal in at least 12 Ragas

Demonstrate the Raga chalan of Kalavati

Sing the  Swar Vistar in Kalavati highlighting the characteristics elements of this Raga

Sing the Paltas fluently following the Sapat and mixed patterns

Present the Chhota Khayal compositions and Tarana in Raga Kalavati with development in Aalap and Taan Vistar 

Present the Bhajan in perfect Sur , Taal and expression

Identify related Ragas by listening
